My recent purchase of the PT1 is a replacement for my original - which failed at about 2 years old.  I also had a PT5 (dissolved oxygen) that failed at 9 months, and was replaced under warranty. I am using a pH Pen now for more than two years, and have replaced the sensor once. They are very handy in the field - durable, compact size, fast response, and easy to calibrate.
